Fairly standard high fantasy, but lacking any characters I liked. Lots of examples of nobles behaving badly, but we're probably supposed to believe that the Lost Heir will be different (I am skeptical; he spent ten years in various royal courts and still hasn't displayed any understanding of politics). I stopped reading when an aged crone tells him his Destiny.
