Robin Hobb, Forest Mage

Second book of the Soldier Son trilogy, in which Nevare gets fat. I don't mind books where the protagonist has a miserable life (you expect it from this author), but I do want it to be more interesting than watching everyone obsess over the hero's weight problem (which is pretty much all that happens in the 100 pages I read). I would also prefer a hero who has at least the illusion of control over events; here, the only time he says or does anything that may affect the plot is when he is possessed by his evil alter ego. And possession is not something I like reading about.
Next Book: Lemony Snicket, The End
