Second book of the Imriel trilogy, and just what we expect from this series (there's not much more I can say without spoilers). Reading this, I was struck by how helpful (to the author) these long journeys to distant lands (in this case the equivalent of Russia) are: it prevents the protagonist from getting help from friends and family and allows other characters to show up unexpectedly when needed.
