Hmm. These are all webcomics:

Dresden Codak (http://www.dresdencodak.com/). Extremely clever (possibly in a bad-as-in-hard-to-understand way) mix of science and philosophy, but not too much story continuity until the recent Hob story arc. Mostly in color.

Eversummer Eve (http://www.eversummereve.com/). Fantasy with humans getting caught up in an adventure involving an exiled dragon and faeries. Black and white; updates weekly; good story, but the archives are mostly not free on Wirepop, except for a few chapters (they occasionally have a month when you can read the whole thing for free).

FAMIB (http://www.famib.com/) (Fire Always Makes It Better). Was on hiatus for a long time. Fantasy/sci-fi mix with an intelligent dragon (every other dragon is, apparently, not intelligent at all) and a boy. The dragon seems to know more about what's going on than anyone else, but he isn't telling. It's sci-fi because they also have guns and robotic pets (maybe that isn't really sci-fi, though...) and enhanced humans. Now updating semi-regularly.

Fantasy Realms (http://www.fantasyrealmsonline.com/). Not sure about the story or the update speed, but the art is pretty. This one seems to have gone through many iterations (including plans for a video game at some point in the past?) to get where it is. Often updates very intermittently, despite better intentions.

Metrophor (http://www.metrophor.com/). By the author of Mixed Myth (http://mixedmyth.comicgen.com), which was a very funny comic, now finished, skewering fantasy tropes. It also had a story line, even if it took a while to get to the point, and there's some beautiful color art in the last few pages. ("Cine matiks means you can't die for some stupid reason; it has to be dramatic!") Now she's collaborating with her brother on a more coherent (fantasy) story.

I'm getting tired of writing these descriptions, so:
Between Two Worlds (http://www.between-two-worlds.net/): Almost finished story (it's currently in its epilogue) about some teenagers who explore an alternate world. The creators are now working on The Broken Mirror (http://www.the-broken-mirror.net/), another comic, but I haven't gotten around to starting it yet.

Darken (http://www.darkencomic.com/): Why save the world when you can conquer it instead?

Lint (http://www.purnicellin.com/lint/): Another comic that starts with fantasy tropes, but it becomes more original (and the art gets much better) after a while.

And Zebra Girl (http://www.zebragirl.net/): a young woman living in Miscellaneous (yes, really) is turned into a demon. It has at least one perk: she discovers she can set the roommate responsible on fire at will... Has recently taken a much darker turn.

And finally, Golden (http://home.comcast.net/~ron_purcell/golden.html): updates very intermittently on account of the artists (there are 7 or so) doing pages when they have time and an idea. The upside is that it's rather short (only 34 pages so far) and very funny.
