Laurie J. Marks, Water Logic
Small Beer Press (2007) ISBN: 978-1-931520-23-2
Score: 2

Third book of the Elemental Logic series, in which Zanja dies and finds herself 200 years in the past, while her friends in the present are trying to deal with the people who feel betrayed by the truce from the previous book. I still really like the setting and characters, but I felt a bit cheated by the plot (which is my usual reaction to time travel plots).

Next Book: Lois McMaster Bujold, The Sharing Knife: Legacy
(I try to arrange the books I read to maximize the contrast between adjacent entries, but I've been amazingly unsuccessful at that this month.)

Laurie J. Marks, Delan the Mislaid
Daw (1989) ISBN: 0-88677-325-3
Score: 1.5

First book of the Children of the Triad trilogy. No humans (though the Walkers are pretty close), lots of invented words, but the characters and plot were rather cliched (Lost Heir falls into the hands of Sadistic Sorceror plotting genocide). Not nearly as good as her Elemental Logic books.

Next Book: Rosemary Edghill, Book of Moons
