The more-or-less happy ending to the Still Life with Fascists alternative history series, concerning an international peace conference and (mostly) unrelated riots. This time the first person POV is Carmichael's adopted niece, so they're basically on the same side of events (though they barely see each other). The ending seemed a bit easy, and I would have liked a bit more denouement (at least to let the survivors get together and reassure each other that they all did survive).

Second volume of the Still Life With Fascists series of alternate history un-cosy mysteries. Like the first one, half follows Inspector Carmichael of Scotland Yard in his investigations, but this time the other POV character is an actress starring in "Hamlet" who gets involved in a plot to blow up Hitler and the Prime Minister.

First of the Still Life With Fascists series, un-cozy mysteries set in an England that made peace with Hitler. Half of the story follows an inspector from Scotland Yard investigating a murder and the other half is narrated by the wife of the obvious suspect. Good story, but you may want to have a fluffy escapist book handy to read afterward.
